We’ll be presenting at the CGIAR Big Data in Agriculture Convention on October 2, 2018. Abby Clobridge will be sharing three research data loss horror stories from an information security perspective — situations that led to entirely preventable data loss.

A common theme at many organizations where data is seen as a public good is that information security isn’t important, since data will eventually be made openly accessible.

While it is often true that the data involved is not confidential, ensuring that the data is accessible and available is critically important. As these three horror stories demonstrate, not following good information security practices puts you, your project, and your organization at risk of losing research data.

More about the session on research data loss is available on the CGIAR Big Data in Agriculture Convention website.
