FireOak isn't a software vendor, systems integrator, or managed service provider. Our role is to help organizations make thoughtful technology decisions.
That perspective comes from years of working across platforms — but also from genuine curiosity about how technology works.
We're the kind of people who build home labs, experiment with AI, prototype with Raspberry Pi, design and print our own hardware, explore new Microsoft 365 capabilities, and happily spend a weekend learning something simply because it's interesting.
We like making things. We also enjoy taking them apart to understand how they work.
That curiosity makes us better advisors. We don't recommend technology because it's fashionable—we recommend it because we've taken the time to understand where it creates value and where it introduces unnecessary complexity.

One thing that makes FireOak unusual is our background.
Every member of our team either holds a Master's degree in Library & Information Science or spent years working in libraries, archives, or information-intensive organizations.
That foundation influences everything we do.
We're naturally drawn to questions like:

- How will it still make sense five years from now?

Current Curiosities
Our curiosity doesn't stop at the technologies we recommend. We're just as likely to spend a weekend experimenting with a local AI model, building a Raspberry Pi project, testing APIs, writing small automation scripts, evaluating open-source software, refining metadata structures, or designing something on a 3D printer. Not because clients ask us to — but because understanding how technology works makes us better advisors.
Currently exploring: local LLMs, Model Context Protocol (MCP), Raspberry Pi environmental sensors, Microsoft 365 Copilot governance, building a local bird tracker, and 3D-printed cable management that may or may not have become more complicated than buying one.
Not every experiment belongs in a client environment, but every experiment teaches us something.
Technology changes constantly. Curiosity doesn't.
